Based on historical images from the textile- and silk-production industry in the german town of Krefeld, I developed a series of drawings portraying the women working in this field. During my research, I visited formerly important production sites, which still demonstrate the work process by means of historical machinery. The impressions and encounters at these places, as well as the image material, were the starting point for my drawings. In order to transfer Krefeld’s history of silk production into the present, I staged and took pictures of historical scenes with models in my studio.
